Praia das Maçãs

Praia das Maçãs

Three of our cottages and the villa are located in Praia das Maçãs, all only a short walk to the beach and village centre. The village centre spreads from the sandy beach, with restaurants, bars, shops and clubs all right there.

On the main road you'll also find the village market, open tue-sun from 8am to 2pm. You can buy al the local fresh produce here from the exuberant traders and experience a little bit of Portuguese-style loud friendliness.

The public swimming pool

Across the road from the market is the public swimming pool, which features a children’s pool next to its Olympic sized main pool with diving boards and a slide. Here you can rent one of the tennis courts with sea views.

The tennis courts

This is also the prime location of the Concha nightclub, which accompanies revellers to the early hours of the morning.

Just before you reach the swimming pool there are a few souvenir shops and this is where you find the village’s cash machine. Beware to take your cash out early in the week, as weekend visitors might milk it dry before the end of Friday evening! And with the amount of bars in the town you do not want to run out of cash just before the weekend kicks in.

The chemist in the town centre is open mon-fri 9am-1pm and 3-7pm. They also receive emergency night calls for a fee.

You must try the local butcher, the 'Talho do Mário', where you can purchase first quality take-away food such as plum filled roast pork loin!

View of the beach

There is an array of excellent local restaurants, we do recommend the seafood restaurant 'O Búzio', just facing the beach on the main road or 'La Bella Pizza', a divine pizzeria wich will make you cringe when you return home to your take-away pizza outlets...

The Buzio restaurant

In the café-bar 'Loureiro', on the road that leads down to the back of the beach, you can sample exotic cocktails with "secret" ingredients as you check your email and make your friends jealous.
